Chateau de Lussac
The grape varieties grown at Château de Lussac are Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with an average age of around thirty years. Some Sauvignon Blanc vines will be grafted with Chenin Blanc, which will come into production in a few years’ time.
The vineyards of Château de Lussac are carefully tended using the latest technology: leaf and analysis, integrated pest management, green harvesting depending on the vintage, and intelligent spraying from the 2023 vintage onwards.
The impressive circular vat room connected to the château ensures that the vineyard’s plot-by-plot approach is respected, with precise temperature control and daily manual pump-overs to control extraction.
After alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, half the wine from Château de Lussac, in the Lussac-Saint-Émilion AOC, is transferred to barrels to enhance its flavour, while the other half remains in vats to bring out the aromatic intensity and fruitiness favoured in the new approach to wine-making.
