Our Saint-Aubin premier cru le Charmois is long on the palate, with just the right amount of tension, accompanied by the depth and complexity that only the finest hillside soils can bring to a wine. At the geological juncture with Chassagne-Montrachet, our plot, rich in iron, is characterized by stony, shallow, well-draining soil. The origin of its name remains uncertain: does it refer to an area formerly planted with hornbeam trees, or, more likely, to a derivative of "Charme", a term used to designate areas of wasteland and bushland, which grow naturally on poor soils?
